Pasabahce was founded in 1935 in Istanbul, Turkey. The company was established by Türkiye İş Bankası at the directive of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to meet the country's need for basic glassware. The first Pasabahce Glass Plant started production with a workforce of 400 people and a daily capacity of 25,000 bottles. By the end of its first year, it was able to meet Turkey's entire demand for bottles and glassware.
The company began with manual production and transitioned to mechanical production in 1955. Pasabahce opened its first retail stores in Istanbul and Ankara in 1957. It began exporting to the United States in 1961. The company has since expanded into a global glassware manufacturer and is the flagship brand of Sisecam, which is the only global company operating in all key areas of glass production.
